Rabbi Marcia was six
years old when she accompanied her orthodox father to temple
and was fascinated by the chanting and emotion of the services.
Shortly after, she joined the temple choir and developed
her unique style of vocalizing. As a young woman, she also
discovered Black Gospel music, and wanted to bring its energy
and joyousness back to her own community. During the 60's,
Marcia performed in a variety of venues, both music and theater.
However, it was after the death of her beloved father, that
Marcia felt her spiritual calling and found the perfect medium
for her talents. She enrolled and graduated from The New
Seminary, a school for the training and ordination of Interfaith
Ministers in NYC. In addition, marcia was ordained as a Rabbi
by the Rabbinical Seminary International. She then continued
her Cantorial studies at the Academy for Jewish Religion.
"I identify with all aspects of Judaism, and also serve as
a co-officiant for Interfaith couples. My role is to bring
both communities together, and show that diversity can be
our strength."
Within a few years, Rabbi Marcia was in great demand for
her unique and personal ceremonies which combine traditions
and customs with great sensitivity and humor. Her soulful
chanting and celebration of family and community make all
feel included. "Weddings are a place for people to reconnect..
The ceremony honors all those that have made the journey
to participate in the couple's union."
From the Hamptons to California, from five
star hotels to Central Park, from the foot of the Statue
of Liberty to a
winery in Connecticut, Rabbi marcia has fashioned her ceremonies
to make the dreams of her clients come to life, using their
own words and experiences. Whether you want to get married
under a Chuppah or under the stars on the beach in Mexico,
Rabbi Marcia will create a unique service filled with joyfulness
and celebration.
